Changing the Color of Bathroom Fixtures
Want to give your bathroom a new updated look without the expense? Change the color of your towel bars and toilet paper dispensers. Notice I didn’t say “change OUT”, I said, “change the color”. Give your old chrome and brass hardware new life just by painting them with Rustoleum spray paint. Rustoleum carries several colors and textures and is around $6.00 a can. You can find this paint at Lowes or any hardware store.
With less than one can of paint, I was able to paint three towel bars, a toilet paper dispenser, two chrome light fixtures and 12 cabinet/drawer pulls and still had plenty left over to paint my kitchen drawer/cabinet pulls.
Even if you’ve never remodeled anything in your life, you can achieve the above look by following the simple steps below:
1. Remove the fixtures from the wall with a screwdriver. (The screws are small and require a small slotted screwdriver. The screws are usually found underneath the two pieces of hardware that holds the bar. The towel bar usually comes apart as three separate pieces.) 2. Take the fixtures outside and place them on a level spot. Put newspaper underneath to catch any overspray from the paint. 3. Holding the can of spray paint about six inches from the fixture, spray each piece evenly to coat. 4. Let dry for a few hours. 5. Place fixtures back onto wall.
Now you’ve gone from OUTDATED to UPDATED in a couple of hours!
